Environmental Pollution Management on SEE Ports & Coastal Zones

Environmental Pollution Management on SEE Ports & Coastal Zones was the title of the TEN ECOPORT poster presented during the 17th MESAEP Symposium held in Turkey from September 28th to October 1st. 
 
Professor Tania Floqi from the Polytechnic University of Tirana represented the project TEN ECOPORT and presented the poster which raised the attention of a large number of participants in this International Symposium on Environmental Pollution and its Impact on Life in the Mediterranean Region.

It has to be pointed out that TEN ECOPORT attracted the attention of researchers coming from the Istanbul Technical University - Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering - Ocean Engineering Department who are working on coastal pollution in Turkey, they analyse sediment samples in Germany and the results of their work were presented in a poster entitled “Relation between sediments characteristics and toxicity: microalgea versus mussel". Those researchers expressed their interest in developing collaboration with TEN ECOPORT, in order to exchange data and results, as it is not possible to include Turkish ports in the project. According to them, the estimation of ships' emissions seems a very ambitious objective.
 
Moreover, the poster attacted the attention of representatives of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of the Technological Educational Institute of Chania (Crete - Greece). Their proposal, after discussions on TEN ECOPORT project, was to include the Port of Chania in the project, and if this is not possible, to find the proper way for collaboration.
