INFORMATIVE WORKSHOPS: Key challenges to ports introducing current environmental protection standards

Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company /BPI Co./ together with National Institute of Hydrology and Meteorology to the Bulgarian Academy of Science presented the highlights and targets jointly implemented with 14 partners under the international project TEN ECOPORT – Transnational Enhancement of ECOPORT8 network, funded by the Trans-national Operational Programme Southeast Europe 2007 – 2013. The project aims to create a sustainable model for partnership between the ports, local authorities and all stakeholders in the implementation of advanced models for environmental protection. TEN ECOPORT is the continuation of the successfully completed project ECOPORT8, within which was created the first port network for development, strengthening and exchange of coordinated initiatives in introducing environmental criteria in the management of port operations.

In implementation of the activities under the Project, BPI Co organizes two informative workshops – in Burgas on 19.06.2013 and in Varna, on 20.06.2013, within which the stakeholders will be acquainted with the basic parameters of the project implementation and the opportunities that such cooperation provides. The main problematic issues related to the introduction and implementation of current European standards of environmental protection in the performance of port operations will be discussed.
