Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company /BPI Co/ distinguish winners in the National Competition for multimedia presentations

On the occasion of World Water Day (22 March) in Bourgas under the slogan Save Waters of Bulgaria was held a national competition for multimedia presentations. It was attended by 75 students from across the country. After a preliminary selection of 193 presentations to national justification before a panel of expert ecologists and chemists were allowed 60 projects, divided into two groups /under 14 years old and over 16 year-old/.

Ruslan Zhelev and Boyana Atanasova, alumni of Municipal Children Complex in Bourgas presented the modern system developed to monitor air and sea water, which operates in the water area of port of Bourgas. In preparation for the national competition they were supported by the experts of BPI Co who participated in the transnational project Ecoport8, funded by EU through the programme Southeast Europe 2007 – 2013. The monitoring system is built in the port of Bourgas with funds from the project and is one of Europe points to control the environmental parameters in the ports. The system also includes six countries that are partners in the second stage of the project TEN ECOPORT.

The young ecologists received Diploma and personal invitation form the Director General of BPI Co. to be included as honorary members of the Bulgarian team in the project TEN ECOPORT. Ruslan and Boyana will participate in the work of the project team and in all events to be organized in the framework of the national project. 



The purpose of TEN ECOPORT is promoting the importance of monitoring and managing the ecological parameters in the ports of Southeast Europe and creation of a partnership network between the responsible institutions, research bodies and all stakeholders related to maritime business. Within the project are planned to be held public hearings, workshops and conferences with participation of the partners from Italy, Greece, Romania, Albania, Croatia and Montenegro.

In 2013 and 2014 Bulgaria will host a series of seminars on maritime business, an international forum and other public events.
